Want to hear all about the most exciting new thing for makers???
I’ll admit that I am almost always the last person in the world to be ‘in the know’ about anything new. But over the last few months I’ve had the privilege of working behind the scenes with the amazing team creating a new crafting platform called Making Things. And I couldn’t be more excited. With the official launch date of October 30th approaching, I can finally tell you all about it.
So, what is Making Things?
Making Things is a cloud-based platform for crocheters and knitters where you can access beautiful patterns from all of your favourite designers. But that’s not all. It has been created by makers, for makers. Along with the patterns are embedded stitch tutorial videos (yes, videos!) so that you never have to leave the app to Google how to work an unfamiliar stitch; you will be able to view expandable charts alongside written instructions; have access to a complete glossary of stitches; and even access live pattern support using the chat feature. All within the app. And the awesomeness doesn’t end there. Making Things gets to know YOU. The interface is designed to create a unique experience for each individual maker, showing you more of what you like each time you log in. And for the tech-challenged among us, there is no need to fear. Earl (MT’s resident Tech expert) has been working tirelessly to make the platform incredibly intuitive so that you can get on with what you do best – making.
Sound good? Wait, there’s more…
Making Things contains the best of the best in the world of knitting and crochet patterns. Meticulously curated, you will find the highest quality, professionally edited and amazing designs from the best designers in the world. And you have the entire pattern library of the app available to you. It’s like Netflix for your crafting. For a monthly subscription fee of $11.99 USD you will have access to every pattern in the database. Yep, you read correctly, THE ENTIRE PATTERN LIBRARY IS YOURS TO ACCESS. Boom! I told you it was great, didn’t I?!
On top of that, you will never need to print a pattern again. Everything we love (me included) about having a printed copy of a pattern can be done within Making Things – adding notes, keeping track of rows, numbering pattern repeats; there’s even a sticky highlighter that you can move to highlight your current row! Because all of the patterns are in the cloud, they can be accessed by all of your devices and all of your pattern notes will still be there. Trust me, once you tried it, you’ll love it.
And besides all of this, Making Things is just plain beautiful. The hard-core sophisticated technology behind the platform is wrapped in a fresh, modern and rather inviting canvas that simply makes you want to stay a while.
But don’t take my word for it. Head on over to Making Things and see for yourself. You won’t be disappointed.
